Continuation of Eugene J. McAllister as an Assistant Secretary of State

The President today announced that Eugene J. McAllister will continue to serve as Assistant Secretary of State (Economic and Business Affairs) at the Department of State. He was appointed on April 1, 1988.

Mr. McAllister was an Assistant to the President at the White House in Washington, DC, 1986 - 1988, and Executive Secretary for the Economic Policy Council, 1985 - 1988. Prior to this he was Deputy Assistant Director for Economic Affairs at the Office of Policy Development, 1983 - 1985. He was senior policy analyst at the Office of Management and Budget, 1981 - 1982. Mr. McAllister has also served as a Walker fellow in economics at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC.

Mr. McAllister graduated from Loyola University of Los Angeles (B.A., 1974) and the University of California at Davis (M.A., 1976). He was born May 20, 1952, in Bronx, NY.
